LA ESPIRAL DEL VIENTO
La espiral del viento was written as a tribute to sculptor Martín Chirino, a key artistic figure of the Canary Islands. Chirino’s iron spirals symbolize the wind and the Atlantic, but also the Mediterranean. These iron spirals are representative of his mature work. Chirino’s own voice and hammering sounds from the iron forging were processed electronically to generate rhythmic and melodic source material. La espiral del viento also employs electronics and inside-the-piano extended techniques (single, double, and triple harmonics).
