SUCCUBUS

Succubus is inspired by the character of Western medieval legends. According to these, the succubus is a female demon that seduces males during sleep. This myth could have been invented to explain the phenomenon of sleep paralysis. The use of extended techniques in the backbone of this Metaludio: harmonics, beating double harmonics, longitudinal glissandi on the lowest strings, percussive effects using double escapement, etc. As in Stheno, psychoacoustic techniques are also used, as well as the imitation of a bell sound using spectral analysis.  This Metaludio was commissioned by the Spanish Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical (CDNM).  It is dedicated to pianist Felix Ardanaz.
